Any people into making homemade Rune Stones or Rune Stone casting?
I just started making my very first homemade Rune Stone set. I’m still in progress of collecting more stones and still have to do the engraving.
So far, I’ve collected around 12 small pieces of wood that i chopped to be small enough to fit in a Rune pouch and around 7 small, same sized stones made of concrete, brick, and more.
When making the engravings, should I just stick to a Sharpie? Will it stay on my materials?
Also, what’s the spell that I cast upon the stones once I finish creating them all?
I’ve heard of using your own blood as ink for the engravings to enhance the power and essence of the stones especially while casting them.
I’ve heard of many ways of casting the stones, tarot way, simple way, etc…what’s the best or most efficient one? Which one is used more commonly today?

Glad to learn that others have interest in the runes! They are a bit more difficult then the tarot cards in my opinion.
First and foremost, your options for runes are, as you seem to know, stone, wood, or bone. Each has its uses and its meanings. I suggest researching what certain woods, and certain stones mean. My runes are made with polished quartz in varying colors, because quartz is inexpensive. (imagine buying enough saphires, rubies, and emeralds to make runes! lol). Bone runes are meant to be more shamanistic, more intuned with nature and life and death. I suggest sticking to stone for now.
Next, engraving. I suggest carving the symbols with a sharp knife, or even the point of a tack (I had special stone chisels, but I’m an artist, I have such tools lying around 
A sharpie can wear away. It is well known that the more effort and energy you put into creating something magickal, the more power it has.
As for using blood… that is a tricky issue. Some people will tell you that it does give them more power. And, if putting more effort and energy into making something is true, then surely using your own blood is a lot of effort/energy put forth!
Some people think the use of blood in any rituals or workings invites evil, because it is causing harm to your body, and that goes against wiccan/pagan teachings (as well as many others!). But there are even some wiccan rituals that call for a little blood (but never more then a drop).
I would not suggest using blood, at least not on your first rune set. I used gold leaf paint. It isn’t too expensive, and it stands out nice against the colors I chose.
As for reading runes, the simplest way is the three rune spread.
The first rune is the past,
the second rune is the problem,
and the third rune is the course of action you should take.
(Or it could be the first is the past, the second is the present and the third is the future. Either way). There are more complex spreads that you can research online. Just google “How to read the runes” and you get a few good sites right at the top.
However, always remember that whether you are casting runes or using tarot cards, you yourself give a large amount of meaning to the symbols and the cards. Let your own inner spirit tell you what a rune might mean. Don’t rely too heavily on the meanings prescribed in books. Memorize the basic meaning (Like Fehu meaning happiness) and build on it from there based on the feelings you get from the runes. Over time, you will notice the runes have certain meanings to you that might not be in the books. This is learned through reading for a very long time, as you learn the outcomes of past readings, you will begin to realize that some runes might have meanings you didn’t think of when you gave the reading. Follow your heart and soul, you can never go wrong. ^_^
