My Xerox Phaser 8560 has ink in it but it says it’s low & stopped printing. How do I force it to print?
All of the ink chutes are full except the yellow. I can see a full stick and a partial in the chute but the printer stopped printing after giving me an “ink low” message. It seems to me that I should be able to at least keep printing with a full stick installed.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, you should be able to continue to print with one of the ink trays low or even out until the time the printhead ink level becomes too low to sustain printing that color. So I suspect that there may be another problem or error that is not being seen. Hopefully you’re using the Xerox brand ink sticks and not some knock-off brand as other brand ink sticks are not properly sized or shaped and often become stuck in the chutes, produce poor print quality/color, or fail to properly activate the sensors in the chutes. The ink sticks may be hung up in the chute and not getting melted correctly and the actual printhead reservoir may be too low to print (which should give an “ink jam” error), but the printer hasn’t produced the correct error code for some reason. You can try carefully nudging the sticks to see if they’re stuck and get them to move down. You can also try turning the printer off for a few minutes then back on to see if it prints or not, or if a new error message or numerical code appears.
Otherwise you may need a Xerox tech to take a look at it. Is it still under warranty or service coverage?
